A Love That Never Fades

For the last few months, I have been in a study on the book of John, and it has reminded me of God’s fulfilled promise to Adam and Eve, Abram and Sarai, Moses and the Israelites, and to us: God’s love through Jesus, who is the Messiah, fully God and fully man, who came to redeem His people. He brought us back into the right relationship with the Father. He was the one and only one who could be the Redeemer, and He paid the price for our sin. God’s plan from the beginning of creation was always love and care for His creation. It is the most beautiful love story. God’s love is inconceivable to us humans because of our sin nature. You could be the most loving person, but God’s love is greater.

As a youth, I had an opportunity to give a speech on God’s love. Remembering my child self, the speech was simple and clear but did not capture the full view of God’s love. Yes, I wrote about how His love is infinite. I had used a battery-operated car to show how the battery’s power (love) was active and being used. But batteries eventually run out of power. God’s power and love are infinite, and they will never fade, never slow down, and never depart from you.

“For the mountains may depart and the hills be removed, but my steadfast love shall not depart from you.” (Isaiah 54:10)

God loved us before He even spoke us into creation. Even when we turned away in sin, He pursued us and provided a way of redemption through Himself in Jesus. Jesus paid the price of sin for us and welcomed us back to Himself. He gave us Himself in the Holy Spirit to convict us, sanctify us, and remind us of God’s love.

“But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, He will teach you all things and bring to your remembrance all that I have said to you.” (John 14:26)

He frees us from our bondage to sin through His life on the cross and welcomes us to be with Him in eternity. Who else loves like that?

All He asks is that we believe in Jesus.

“Let not your hearts be troubled. Believe in God; believe also in me.” (John 14:1)

And as John 14:21b says, “He who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I will love him.”

In this world of sin and darkness, Jesus commands us to love one another (John 15:12). He gave us that example in creation, through the Old Testament, and finally on the cross. John 15:13 says, “Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends.”

He has given us His story of love throughout the Bible, and He continues to write these stories on our hearts and within the body of the Church. As Galatians 5:13 says, “For you were called to freedom, brothers. Only do not use your freedom as an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another.”

“Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another.” (1 John 4:11)

For His Glory,
